Nikolaus Jantsch was born in Linz in 1978. He enrolled in a sociology study program in 1999, but moved to Vienna in 2000 and started to study painting and experimental animation in the class of Prof Christian L. Attersee at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna. In 2006 he received his diploma with distinction. Since 2012 he has been head of the animation department.

Wolke 7 Kurzfilmfestival: Kategorie Experimentalfilm
Von den zwölf experimentelleren Filmarbeiten, die zum Großteil in Österreich entstanden sind, ist besonders ein Super-8-Film von Niki Jantsch hervorzuheben, der im Wiener Studio für experimentellen Animationsfilm entstanden ist und schon im Mai bei Vienna Independent Shorts zu sehen war.
